embracing the wind

I still get wildly enthusiastic about little things… I play with leaves. I skip down the street and run against the wind. ~Leo F. Buscaglia

While Weslea and I were in San Antonio, we ended up having two full days to do some sightseeing. We never ventured out any farther than we could walk by foot but were still able to catch a lot of the main attractions.

On our final day there, we needed to be at the airport by 2:00 to catch our first flight  so we decided to just go to one last attraction that we hadn’t seen yet…Tower of the Americas.

We had been planning to get there earlier in our trip, but it was a much farther walk than The Alamo, The Riverwalk and a variety of other places. We finally decided to hoof it on out there and were so glad that we did!

And why did we love it so much?!  Two words…The Wind.

The glorious, fabulously wonderful wind!

It was so windy up there!  The minute we stepped out on the observation deck we were in heaven…that wind felt so good on our hot, flushed, ultra sweaty bodies (we were two girls who were used to 44 degree temps in Ohio, not the 98+ hot, humid San Antonio temps we had endured for several days.)

Not only did that wind feel good, it was so hilariously fun as well!

We just about laughed ourselves silly watching our hair and clothing fly every which way.  It was so windy I had to be super careful with my camera and heavy camera bag just to be sure they wouldn’t be snatched away from me!  And it was the one day that I was truly thankful that I wasn’t wearing one of my summer dresses.

The fisheye lens was amazingly fun in this situation…I even braved the self-portait (thanks to encouragement from Susan Keller!) by using my handy-dandy rubberband arms and the fisheye lens together.  🙂

FYI:  Everyone should own a fisheye lens just because of it’s slimming capabilities.  Love that!

As a mom, I just love those simple moments when you find so much joy in being with one of your children, giggling and laughing together over something so completely silly.

We couldn’t have ended our time in San Antonio on a happier note if we had tried!
