Definite Improvement.

My younger sister, Andrea, called me about a week ago and asked me if I had ever looked back at the photos on the “My Year In Photos” blog that I was maintaining last year. I replied that I hadn’t and she then mentioned “you probably should…I think you’d be surprised at how much your photography has improved since last year.”

So, I did…and I was amazed. Not that my photography is so fantastically great now, but many times I feel like I completely stand still as a photographer and get discouraged that I’ll never get to the level I would really like to be at. Andrea’s phone call was a kind reminder to me that I have actually gotten better since this time last year. And looking back at my photos gave me hope that I’ll improve even more during this next year.

Due to her phone call, here’s a look back at what I remember thinking at the time were some of my favorite photos on my 2008 photo blog…

January:

February:

March:

This was the month that I first started dragging my camera around everywhere I went…

April:

This was my post from April 1st…I found this photo online and used it to give my family and friends a good shock on April Fool’s Day. Now that was fun!

This was also the month that I discovered the free trial version of Photoshop CS3…

May:

My much-loved niece, Jordyn, was born in early May…

Weslea began to happily pose for some photo shoots with me…

Will became interested in photography as well. This is one of his early shots…
It wasn’t too long after this that I decided to finally do something to get rid of my extra pounds, and I began jogging several miles a day. (It’s still not my favorite thing to do…but losing pounds is great incentive to keep going.)

June:

In this family, June is the month known as the time when Angie turns “Forever 29” again! My hubby was the best hubby ever this month as he bought me Photoshop CS3 and a laptop computer for my Mother’s Day/Birthday gift.

I also had a fantastic photo shoot with Weslea in June. The only problem was that I way underexposed most of the shots. Photoshop fixed this photo and it became one of my “All Time Favorites” that I’ve ever taken….

School’s out! We spent many lazy afternoons at a local park that has this beautiful creek in it…

And even more days at the lake where we get a membership each year…

And that is January through June. I will continue with July through December tomorrow!
