The Emotional Rollercoaster Called Blogging.

Two and a half years ago, I remember complaining to my younger sister about how long it took to upload pictures of the kids to Hotmail. Each photo had to be uploaded one-by-one and it was taking tons of my time just to upload a few pictures of the kids to send to my brother and his wife. “Why don’t you just start a blog and post your pictures there instead?” she said. “Then anyone in the family who wants to see your pictures can just go there and you won’t have to spend so much time uploading them in Hotmail and sending each person a separate email.”

Blog them? I thought. I had very little exposure to the world of blogging and it seemed like a strange, foreign concept to me. I really, really liked the idea of not having to upload pictures to Hotmail any longer though so I decided to give it a try.

And that was when my blogging addiction began.

And due to that blogging addiction, I have (in one day) experienced two very different emotions from people whom I have never met, and yet they are people that I feel like I have a very special friendship with. And it all happened because of this strange, yet fulfilling, concept we call blogging.

Let’s start with the bad news first and get it over with…

On my horrifying “toe post” yesterday, I received so much sympathy, advice, love and support…it was amazing and wonderful. I also experienced one of the most embarassing moments of my life. For you see, my good friend (Amy from Texas) wrote me a note that she had been away from the blogs for awhile because she has been planning an uber-fun Halloween party that was going on at her home last night. BUT, while her friends were at her house for the party, she started telling them about my blog and decided to go online to show off my photography and family to them.

Are you making the connection here? She went online….last night….to show off my photography to them.

And what to their wondering eyes did appear? Just a horrifying array of photos to give them nightmares for the next ten years.

I now know what it means when someone says that “they wanted to die of embarassment.” I also know that if I ever have the privilege of meeting Amy from Texas (and her friends) in real life, they will automatically be picturing my Ugly Toe in their mind instead of my face. Oh my head.

On the good news side of things, I also received a real blessing from another internet friend that I have been privileged to get to know ~ DVM’S Wife. She posted a comment that she was giving me a Blog Award…another thing about blogging that is a fairly new concept to me. And here it is in all it’s Blog Award glory…

How cute is that? And what an honor to have another person think of me that way. Makes a “hideous toe” gal feel purty darn special, that’s for sure.

I’ve discovered that there are rules to receiving Blog Awards and this one is no exception. This award’s rules state that I must nominate a minimum of 7 bloggers that are deserving in recognition to have this little badge on their blog and they must wear it proudly somewhere amongst their page elements. So, I will nominate…

1) Amy from Texas – Thanks for giving me the biggest laugh of the day yesterday (even though my cheeks are still blushing a fiery red color.)

2) Chickengal – You’ve been with me for quite some time now and I’ve loved getting to know you better.

3) Dot’s Spot – Another one of those online ladies that I’ve never actually met, but consider a friend in my heart.

4) Drew – The sister who fostered my blogging addiction (Sweatiepy might never forgive you, but I’ll love you forever for it.)

5) Heidi – I love your words of wisdom and the joy you have in life!

6) Kim – A longtime friend that I’ve reconnected with just lately…I honestly learn something new everytime I read your blog.

7) Kate – My local, fellow O.C.P. (Obsessive Compulsive Photographer.) Thank you for being patient with me and teaching me so much these past six months.

8) Pam – I might be jealous of your weather, beaches and sand but you are one sweet gal and it has been a blast to meet you here in our online world.

9) Tammy – A strong woman of faith who gives me something to think about when I read her thoughts each day.

10) Cindi – And another online friend I’ve never “met” except that I feel like I know her because I get to read about her and her family…she’s a teacher and her writings always remind me of how much I should appreciate my children’s teachers. One of the most important jobs on this earth!

I tried to pick people who update their blog almost daily and seem to have a strong commitment to the same blogging addiction I have been afflicted with. I also tried to pick people that I have known for at least a little while and have gotten to know them a bit through their blogs. I hope I didn’t miss anyone who really would want this…if you are on my sidebar, you are a blogging bud of mine and I check out your site daily just to see if you’ve updated it! You all truly make my day brighter. Ladies ~ you can pass this “award” on or you can just look at it and use it as an encouragement as you think about the fact that you have been a blessing to me. Thank you for touching my life in the ways that you have.

And thank you, DVM’s Wife, for thinking of me. I’m so glad that our paths have crossed in this life that we have been given.

Oh Happy Day! I just found out I received another award from another blogging friend.

So, remember how I learned that Blog Awards have “rules?” Here are the ones pertaining to this award:

The translation of this award from Portuguese to English, and the meaning of this award (which I think is absolutely beautiful): “This blog invests and believes, the proximity.” Meaning, that blogging makes us ‘close’- being close through proxy.

They all are charmed with the blogs, where in the majority of its aims are to show the marvels and to do friendship; there are persons who are not interested when we give them a prize, and then they help to cut these bows; do we want that they are cut, or that they propagate? Then let’s try to give more attention to them! So with this prize we must deliver it to 8 bloggers that in turn must make the same thing and put this text.

I am passing this one on to everyone listed above for my other award, plus these lovely bloggers as well.

1) Megan – A beautiful gal who lives only an hour or so away from me. She just received some really bad news about her husband’s job last week and I’ve been thinking of her and praying for her often. I hope this brightens your day just a bit Megan!

2) Lori – A friend that I’ve known since Jr. High school (remember when we used to have Jr. Highs?? Ha!) She doesn’t update often, but I love reading her thoughts when she does.

3) Angela – We just recently discovered each other’s blogs, but it’s been a joy to get to know her. If you read her blog you will be assured of one thing…you are going to see pictures of her dogs. She loves them to pieces! We also have one other thing in common ~ a deformed digit. I have to like her just for that reason alone. 🙂

4) My Aunt Cindy – One of my nurse aunties that will look at pictures of my Ugly Toe, give me advice and sympathy and still love me even though I’ve tattooed that picture into her brain. She is a crafter extraordinaire and I love her to bits.

5) Donna – Miz Booshay is a famous blogger ~ her photography is regularly featured on the infamous Pioneer Woman’s website. She also has a beautiful, Christian testimony and a blog full of the most amazing readers on earth. I have met many of my online friends through her blog and will always thank her for that!

Same thing as the other award…I don’t care if you post this, pass it on or just use it to remind you that I’m thinking of you. It’s been a joy getting to know each and every one of you this year!
