Busy, Busy, Busy…

I know the guys hate to hear about stamping, but these were all done for good causes…

Each year during the week before Easter, our church sponors Missionary Training School (MTS) which basically provides clear, basic, very much needed training for people who feel they are being called to the mission field. It’s a week-long training and our church provides all the lodging, meals, classes, child-care, etc. absolutely free of charge for those who attend. The classes include things like “How To Present Your Ministry To Churches”, “A Godly Missionary Marriage”, “The Importance of Education For Missionary Children”, and many other topics that missionaries are often never taught. One of the things we like to do is to provide a care basket for each family and Janine ended up being in charge of that ministry this year.

She spent hours going around to different stores purchasing items that each family or couple could use and then we spent the Wednesday evening before MTS putting the baskets together. We tried to make them appropriate to each family (ie. including coloring books, crayons, bubbles, etc. for families with small children and then more grown-up items for the older couples.) We ended up with about 20 baskets ~ they turned out really nice and I’m sure everyone appreciated them.

We then made bags for each missionary to have as well ~ each bag included a journal and matching pen that we made, mints, gum and candy (all the essentials!) Janine helped me with most of the journals and then Michelle helped me finish them up the Saturday night before the missionaries arrived. I forgot to take pictures of these bags (URGH!) but we ended up making about 60 of them.
Then, one of my friend’s husband passed away on March 16th. It was very unexpected and so completely horrible and sad. You end up feeling so terrible and powerless to help her. Janine, Trudi, Michelle and I decided to see if she would need any thank-you cards and we got a lot of them finished on Tuesday night after Stamp Club. Michelle is in Chicago visiting her parents so we missed her, but we still have 53 more to finish up. We’ll be using your stamping hands once you get home Michelle! 🙂 Our friend is a really creative person, so I know she’ll appreciate having hand-stamped cards to send out to everyone who is supporting her right now.
