"Bad Day"

So, talk about the biggest time-waster of my day…

I love the song “Bad Day” by Daniel Powter and decided that I wanted to learn how to play it on the piano (believe it or not, this is something that I find really enjoyable and relaxing to do — weird huh? I am a huge piano dork!) So, I played the video really loud on the computer and sat down at the piano to figure it out. It didn’t take too long….

But then I started going over to look at the video (I needed to figure out one elusive chord) and watched the parts when Powter is playing the piano. He is playing it in a totally different key than it is written! It’s written in E flat and I’m pretty sure he’s playing it in F (they rarely show his hands full-on, but he’s definitely not playing any flats!) So, what’s up with that?? I have to learn the song in E flat to be able to play along with the video and he gets to take the easy way out and play it in F?!

Anyway…yeah! I can now play the song “Bad Day.” Of course, I will never be able to play it anywhere. The only place I play piano is at church and I don’t think they will think it’s quite suitable for an offertory. Maybe I could play it at the next wedding I’m asked to do…….that would be a great start to marital bliss!

Well…………laundry, dishes and cleaning are calling my name. Guess I’ll go have some “real” fun. If you’d like to take a listen to “Bad Day” just go to http://www.hyfntrak.com/danielpowter/site/.
