I know many of you have read Andrea’s blog for a description of the service we attended and participated in on Sunday. It was truly a life-changing event for me and I feel so blessed that I was able to be a part of it.
On Sunday evening, Janine was told by a soloist at our church that Tom had requested for an older song “O Glorious Love” to be sung at his funeral. We all began looking online for this song as none of us could find it in our music collections. I found lyrics for the song in many places, but couldn’t find the actual piano music.
I finally stumbled upon the website of the man who wrote the song – John W. Peterson and found the sales part of the website which read: “Unfortunately, most of the music of John W. Peterson is no longer in print. However, we continue to offer a variety of solutions to help our customers obtain the print and recorded music they love and enjoy. If you are interested in a particular John W. Peterson product — let us help you! Please contact us directly and we will do everything possible to accommodate your request.”
Since I wasn’t finding the music anywhere else I thought that I might as well try contacting them to see what they could do. I totally expected them to tell me that for $12.00 I could download the song, or if I could put in my credit card number they would send it to my home….and I was completely fine with that.
Instead, within a couple of hours I received an email that said “In response to your request, attached is a complimentary pdf copy of “O Glorious Love”.” What an unbelieveable testimony of Christ’s love that a stranger showed yesterday. Here are the lyrics of this powerful song:
